Internship Experience Writeup 1

Overview

Throughout my internship experience, I have gained hands-on experience working in enterprise IT environments while expanding my technical skills in systems administration, cloud services, cybersecurity, and automation. I have worked with a variety of Microsoft technologies and have contributed to projects that improve company efficiency, security, and user experience.

Microsoft Administration & Cloud Technologies

One of my primary areas of growth has been becoming proficient with Microsoft administration platforms. I have developed experience managing and navigating the Microsoft Admin Center, Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, and the Power Platform.

Through these platforms, I have worked with:

  • User and identity management

  • Cloud-based administration

  • Microsoft security configurations

  • Application and environment management

  • Automation and workflow development

Power Platform Development

I developed an internal company intranet using Microsoft Power Pages. This project allowed me to apply both my programming background and process improvement skills to create a practical business solution.

The intranet project involved:

  • Designing and developing web pages using Power Pages

  • Working with Dataverse data structures

  • Creating automated workflows using Power Automate

  • Improving internal communication and resource accessibility

  • Translating business requirements into technical solutions

This project strengthened my ability to combine software development concepts with enterprise IT processes.

Email Security Improvements

I have led the research and implementation process for a new email spam filtering solution. This involved evaluating available solutions, understanding security requirements, and assisting with deployment planning to improve protection against phishing attempts and malicious email activity.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

I have contributed to cybersecurity initiatives focused on improving organizational security posture and compliance readiness.

One of my projects involved writing and implementing new Group Policy configurations to help meet Level 2 Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements.

This work included:

  • Reviewing security requirements

  • Developing appropriate policy configurations

  • Improving endpoint security controls

  • Supporting compliance-focused infrastructure changes

Network & Device Management

As part of the organization’s rollout of Microsoft Intune, I have assisted with device management implementation and network configuration.

My responsibilities have included:

  • Configuring firewall ports required for Intune communication

  • Troubleshooting connectivity issues

  • Supporting device management deployment

  • Working with network security controls

Conclusion

This internship has provided valuable experience working with enterprise technologies while allowing me to apply my programming, cybersecurity, and problem-solving skills in real-world environments. I have gained a stronger understanding of how cloud platforms, automation, security policies, and infrastructure work together to support modern organizations.
